I make $15,000 a year @ Best Buy. My annual tuition + book fees totals $10,000. My apartment share is $400 a month + living expenses. I don't own a car or cable. Fuck this 'American Dream' and fuck capitalism. I want to be a scientist and I'll go into debt pursuing that dream and I'll make less than Justin Beiber for doing so.

@7j8i9m Also, although the Republicans don't clarify this point - that's only FEDERAL taxes. Since most of those people are the working poor, they still have to cough of payroll taxes, among others.

@LenLevine1 if pointing out facts is "socialist" or "communist" then im a proud socialist/communist

@7j8i9m Also middle class people who have homes but make under ~$60k (Idk the exact number) because of the home buyers tax credit
Here's the thing though: that ignores their property, state, sales, medicare, SSI, etc taxes.

@LoudGuitr I'm fairly certain I could live the rest of my life very comfortably on seven million dollars.
Or as I call it, 140 years worth of my annual salary.

@clhroc How much work is involved in having your name on a piece of paper when a relative dies?
Keep this in mind- when Republicans say half of Americans don't even pay their taxes, what they're referring to are PEOPLE WHO LIVE BELOW THE POVERTY LINE AND CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY TAXES. Currently, the poverty line is about $22,000 for a family of four people. Can you imagine what it would be like to house and feed four people on $22,000 a year in this economy? Look back at that statement before, half of Americans don't pay taxes... really think about that and where the poverty line is.

400 individuals in this country have more money than 150 million of us. The top 5 percent own nearly 60% of the economy. One out of every two Americans is either living in poverty or low-income. These are facts. And the response we should have to this is to call anyone who points it out a Socialist or a Commie? Come on now!
