Woody hired a bunch of young turks out of the great college jazz programs and found a way to blend some of rock into big band jazz. Woody's work in the late 60's and 70's was just so dynamic. He really saved the best for last.

loving that baritone sax!

Woody was always open to new sounds -dig the use of the Fender Rhoades and electric bass. Even though the sound on this clip is a hair rough in spots, there is a definite groove going here which transcends the sound quality- It move! It is interesting how this arrangement changed over the years from the first time the band recorded it at Montreaux with Gregory Herbert, I believe, to the 40th anniversary concert at Carnegie Hall to this clip.Added brass section riffs and whathaveyounot.15 stars!

There is a reference at the end of the song to the French hymn, probably a dedication to the people living in Nices
