nice fan. and the kitty cat doesnt seem to worry about the fan at all. most cats would be gone.

Nice fan. Without that OSHA guard, it would be both quieter and it would put out alot more air. Those restrictive guards are now meant to keep fingers out of the blades. The original guards were meant to protect the blades themselves, rather than fingers, hence fans with the open guards move much more air.

retrochad do they have any of these fans that will work in australia on 240v ac power?

I think you gotta turn the oscillating mechanism then it should oscillate.

i have one like that in my garage mine is in ratty shape but better than any new pos fan
Nice Hunter. I remember those at the local community college in the office.
On the oscillating feature, is there a knob on the box at the rear of the motor? On these older fans it's typically a threaded deal that you tighten to engage the clutch to make it oscillate.

I did finally get it to oscillate...I opened up the gearbox and put some zoom spout oil in there and it helped...The oscillating feature has a knob in the usual place but it is actually a screwdriver blade adjustmnt rather than a hand controllable knob...not sure why they did it that way.
