The Pinkees used to play in a pub in Basildon every Thursday. They were great live but I think at least one of the band did not want to go full time and so they fell apart just as they took off! Sad as the group who replaced them at the pub were rubbish compared to the Pinkees.
It had a weird chart run, two weeks at number 30, then up three to 27 - surely it had run out of steam? Yet the next week it jumped to 8 before dropping back down. No wonder they thought there was chart-rigging, an unusual leap certainly.
