This will be in HD when it's finished processing so you can see better. Sorry about the washer/dryer sounds.

When I first learned how to do this I practiced this way to try and get it to where I could do it to my head. I learned how to cornrow on myself first then others.
If you practice this you shoud be able to cornrow your own hair after watching all these videos.
The first few will probably not turn out as sleek as you want, but with practice you'll learn how tight you need to hold the hair, etc.

What you will need:

1. String or yarn or hair
2. Scissors
3. Time to practice the technique

I hope this helps, This is how I started. I know I repeat myself a lot and go at a lot of different speeds, I tried to get it at an angle where you can do it with me. Hope this helps someone, you have a good weekend and thanks for watching

  • @ayamejoy, hey i found it, lol, but the reason i thought i couldn't find it is because it was under "how to corn canerow" so that's why i was confused... and after watching this you do explain the steps, but can you do me a favor and "you" also watch my vid and let me know what you think? just click my name below and choose the "how to cornrow your own hair"

  • @sanman1185 cool & I've renamed the videos again. I watched your video and your braid turned out nicely :) when I'm doing someone else's hair I have to do it similar to that way, which point do you add more hair? It looks like you do it with your index finger and then kinda resplit it into two parts. I think your video is good except for the wetting the hair part, it would make braiding my hair harder, but makes naturally straighter hair easier to grip. I think it will help someone learn :)

  • Thank you again for the visual. I will let you know my progress during my braid challenge. I'm challenging myself to learn how to do braids and cornrows on my own hair. I'm transitioning for at least a year. I'm going to get string and practice with that and my own hair.

  • You're welcome {:o) I really like to braid and if I can help other people learn in a much faster time that I did, I feel accomplished, lol! It's amazing how easy it is once you get your hand placement and which way to move the fingers down. eventurally you won't even have to look to braid your own hair!

  • This is one of the best videos I've seen so far showing how to cornrow. Thanks. The different colored yarn was very helpful.

  • Thank you MizMikkiC {:o) I'm glad you found it helpful and you're very welcome!
