my PWD is 6 months old but he doesnt really like the water, and he have a pool, and the beach right near use i walk him too but he doesnt go in, any tips?

I recommend starting them off at the beach or river...any place with a gradual entrance to water. Mine wasn't fond of the pool due to the STEP entrance. If you walk in I am sure the dog will soon follow you into the water. When they are young they want to be with you always. Vito followed me fly fishing and wading in streams and has gotten other dogs to follow him in. I often go in the ocean with him and hold him when he is tired, then head him back towards shore.

Oh my god, my mother says EXACTLY the same things to HER Portuguese Water Dog.
All the time, it's "Are you my good puppy? Are you a good girl? Are you my baby? Who's a good girl?
You're my baby, aren't you?" ... and more like that.
LOL!
My mom's is 4, & she weighs 47 pounds (no, she's not overweight, she's just very large for a female porty).
How much does Vito weigh?

Vito weghs 54 lbs. has gotten up to 60. They are heavy in the chest as they are powerful swimmers. In Nov '09 vito was 14!
