In over a hundred years before we choose MMP only 44 women had been elected to parliament. Since MMP we have elected over eighty women MPs in only 15 years.
MMP is a fairer and more representative voting system.

This example would also be true of other groups that are represented either by a minority or (in the case of woman in the last century) a group that is otherwise under represented in parliament. MMP makes all our voices heard in our parliament. FPP and SM will represent only the few and I think will be a terrible choice for our beautiful New Zealand.

@atheistTower Of course the increase in number of women in parliament has to do with MMP. Parties had good numbers of women high enough on their lists to get them in when they would not have had a chance of getting in as local elecotorate MP's under FPP.
@Sksnz The women are ranked on the party lists the same as anyone else and therefore earn the seats on their merits when the party is voted for. MMP doesn't mean parties are randomly putting bad women candidates on lists just for the look.

candidates should be voted for what they do, not what they are. As much as i support women's rights, i think this video against the principle of democratic election system.

It's a false example of correlation being used to promote causation - the increase in women has very little to do with MMP at all.
