When I step on the gas it's defiantly more than 200hp like the 3.8 ... Get's up and goes pretty damn well for the size. Deff not a turd.

Probably an emissions thing. U.S has got very strict and companys have to constantly redesign their diesels.

I said this in another video. But I like the flex fuel engine in these. Only hurts about 3 mpg burning E85. So 75 cents cheaper than regular, it's saving me money and supporting America.

@Shabbernigdo , thanks for you answer. I live in Chile, already have a 2007 Wrangler Rubicon Unltd. but with the mods. the poor efficient V6 3.8 is just not enough, other people have the 2.8 diesel sahara with much better results. I don`t know why Chrysler don`t sale here the Rubicon diesel as they do in Europe, I'm looking for the possibility of buying a new diedel one and change the equipment (including axles !!) from my Rubicon.

Honestly, reliability. That is pretty much it. And its more fun for some people. Autos are great for 4x4 due to the weight at the bottom of the car keeping it more stable. And the fact your foot is free to control the break better.
Manual is a bitch in traffic.

@Shabbernigdo what makes it really funny is that the diesel replacement for these vehicles is stronger / generaly more reliable / get much better fuel mileage while producing less emissions and is just plain better.

@RFB2903 there are a few reasons. 1. chrysler is afraid to step up and be the first to introduce a small diesel into the amreican market.
2. the epa make is retardly hard to pass a small diesel into the market without it having a ton of emissions equipment on it in turn making it have a stupid high price tag.
there for a while ford / chevy / nissan were all looking into releasing a smaller 4cy diesel for there mid size trucks but all of them have either scraped it or put it on the back burner.

@Shabbernigdo , I aggre with you.....Does someone know why Chrysler does not sell the DIESEL version in the USA?.

@sonbuhitsunei Well, first a manual trans is typicaly more durable than an auto, gets better fuel economy and, is a better car for people who know how to get the most performance from a vehicle. I have been a commercial motor vehicle instructor in the past, and now just drive. I dont find 18 gears all that difficult to master. I honestly think autos are for people who are too dumb to learn or too lazy to master driving. Impo. Its just too easy to teach "mash on the throttle to go"
f the pentastar i want the 2.4l turbo diesel. 200 hp and 340 lb/ft torque not to mention it gets 26 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.
