what an arrogant smart ass! of course the gospel accounts differ, show me two people who have exact accounts of the same event? not gonna happen! would you believe witnesses in court who had exactly the same story? There are apparent contradictions in the gospels but the way of salvation is crystal clear! Jesus paid the price and died on the cross for your sins and rose from the dead for your justification before GOD! Put your faith in Him,repent and believe in the gospel!

Lemme get this straight . . . the Bible clearly contradicts itself because of the inherent error of oral tradition and that the authors have just made up details to "spice it up"? I didn't expect this . . .

It's refreshing to see that idea of Biblical inerranancy being preached against from the pulpit. I enjoyed the mental gymnastics that the preacher goes through at the end to try to make sense of obvious contradictions.

Sure, there are contradictions, but they make sense! (huh?)

Excellent points. You would think an omniscient being would have had the forethought to know that 21st men would have a huge problem with this degree of disparity among the gospels. Never mind 2 conflicting creation accounts, condoning generational incest, ark zoo's, whale taxis, and talking snakes... I'm so over all three Abrahamic faiths...

@Klaratu You seem to be implying that contridictions are all the same and that whenever they are found between two different accounts of the same event then these contridictions always support the facts of the two accounts. Really? Are you that obtuse?

So if witness #1 says "I saw Joe steal the car" and witness #2 says "I saw Susan steal the car", I guess you would jump up and say, "Look at the contridiction beween there testimonies, obviously they can both be relied upon as fact!!"

@Klaratu If you don't want to be intellectually lazy, then you would need to discuss the NATURE of the discrepancies found between the gospels and whether or not they are the type of discrepancies that one would simply expect to find in writings from different authors.

Then you would need to prove that these are not the type of discrepancies that discredit these writings.

Take obvious evidence that works against the notion that the bible is the inerrant word of god (namely, that there are numerous contridictions between the various gospels), and twist it around so that this fact is magically seen instead as strong evidence in favor of the veracity of the gospels. Huh?

people make their life around porn, drugs, drinking, and money. then they try to argue that there isn't a God because they want to justify their actions. God gives us the freedom to do what we want because he loves us and you then wonder why bad things happen...
