Tara and Donzer ride in the RMDS championships at the Colorado Horse Park in Parker Colorado. Tara discusses her current dressage education level. This video will be a benchmark for measuring her progression up the levels.
i have an ex- racehorse and weve been doing jumping, but this winter i want to start him dressafe. what do you suggest is good to get him in his frame? when we ride he doesnt do it, because i dont ask for it, but he does do it when he runs around and plays in the field and has a very fancy extended trot. any suggestions? are draw reins good?
@thisillremember I think it is great to start on the longe line with side reins so you can get a clear visual in your head how he looks and you can also gauge the response to moving into contact. You can do some turns on the forehand in motion to help with the acceptance of contact if he is reluctant to move forward easily. I always like to start at the walk. Draw reins can create an artificial headset & it is deceiving how much contact you actually have.
