It says something about the Marxist influence if the only cheer he got was when he says Hezbollah's victory came from "the workers" not from God. That does show a contempt for the beliefs of Muslims, and the dominant culture among Lebanese society and resistance. The fact is that Muslims don't believe any victory is possible without the will of Allah, and the fighters are serving because of their faith in Allah.

Interesting, but I don't agree that "sectarianism is nothing but distorted class struggle". Even if society had more evenly distributed wealth, people would still have sectarian differences in their religious beliefs. There would still be Shias, Sunnis and Christians etc. Religion wouldn't suddenly disappear, and in an already religious society and culture, most people wouldn't want it to.
