  • What is this organ located? What state? Give us more performances?

  • @Chesterbarnes1

As said in the description, this is Ernest M. Skinner's Opus. 308, located at Old South Church in Boston, Massachusetts. This organ is about 6 hours drive from my home, I was visiting family in Boston when I played it last year.

  • No question an E. M. Skinner is one of the finest organs built. 30 Celestes is amazing. And you do an excellent job of using it very well!

  • I was like in heaven with all the flute celestes, erzahler celestes, string celestes.... I wish I'd been able to highlight an orchestral reed or two as well in this video. This organ's got it all!

  • Good sounding organ! I think the registration at the end was a bit heavy though. Who's voice is that we keep hearing at the end?

  • One of the best organs in the country I would say!

Yes, it's amazing what octave couplers can do with 73 note ranks.... it's incredible what this organ can do with only strings and erzahlers!

That's my grandmother who filmed these. :-)

  • I LOVE Celestes!!!! Have you ever tried adding a vox humana to your full celeste registration? I tried this on several organs; it was VERY dramatic! Happy Playing! Thanks for sharing!

  • @HA6425 No not ONE of the best, simply THE BEST!!!

  • @codeman2008 Codeman, I wonder if I drove 12 hours would someone at the church allow me to do what you did? Do you know someone at the church?

  • @codeman2008 E.M. Skinner was no doubt the 'Rolls Royce' organ for years. You were playing one of the best I hope you know that?

  • Wow Cody! This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

  • Thanks very much! It's one of the best I've played!
