SW Rebuild - Part 15 - Refugium and Copepods

So I meant to do a video of putting together the regium, but it smehow got away from me. Basically I grabbed a small rubbermaid container, filled it with 2 inches of the Fiji Pink live sand, threw in some cheato, and some live rubble. I then placed the container inside the refugium area of the sump and put the remaining liv sand outside the bin. A couple days later, I added a bottle of a couple thousand live copepods. The thought is, they will have a safe place to breed and a few will slip into the main tank and maybe populate the live rock. I also plan on adding a couple hermit crabs and some cleaner clams to the refugium when one of my local fish stores get some in stock.

@enriquer1990 Have you tried Spirulina-fed-Brine? I have a mandarin that loves that food.. It's relly picky and lazy so i shut all powerhheads off for 3 minutes to allow it to take it's time eating.

Nice!!! I never had a very big population of these in my tank but I haven't been running a refugium either. I've ordered one and can't wait to get it up and running.

where can i buy the trigger pods? i have a mandarin and he wont eat tiny frozen shrim

@aznbadboy You want them to populate your refugium because its a safe place for them. If he added them directly to the tank and he added a mandrin, he would wipe out the population in the main tank. and the copepods will eventually get sucked into the main tank

just a quick question..im just wondering why didnt you pour in those tiny bugs directly in the aquarium ?..
