IF YOU WANT TO DEBATE ABOUT THE TOPICS IN THIS VIDEO THERE ARE TWO CONDITIONS WHICH YOU MUST MEET:

1) Watch all three parts of this video. The particular one here is just part 1.

2) Read and follow the formal debating guidelines which I have posted on my profile page.

A response to the many misconceptions I've seen about the Islamic faith from the perspective of a non-Muslim American female.

This is also a response to the idea that Westerners, and Americans especially, have no desire to learn about anything to do with the Middle East. Most Americans are pretty stupid, I'll agree to that, but not all of us.

Basically, this video was made in the interest of reducing blanket stereotypes on both "sides" of current political and ideological conflicts.

  • thanks

  • Also, FYI, in accordance with the debate guidelines I have posted on my profile page, I'm blocking you. You make repeated logical fallacies, not to mention having a blanket attitude of fear and hatred against Muslims. I honestly thought that with all the studying you've supposedly done I could learn something from you. Unfortunately this is not the case.

  • I can find nothing which says 'on the earth in general'. Where are you getting this citation from? What book claims that ibn Kathir said this?

Where in the Koran does it describe the Zakah as a punishment? And where does it say that only 'people of the book' are to be given this option?

  • Those are not parables; they are analogies. There is no story.

Luke 12:46 does not "literally say hurt people for God". The master in 12:46 IS God.

  • "The majority of Nazis had nothing whatsoever to do with the holocaust."

By the same token, the majority of Muslims have nothing to do with terrorism.

  • I came to my opinion *before* I'd even heard about Karen Armstrong, thank you very much.

  • They had already organized a resistance, that's the point. As well, the person who condemned them was a non-Muslim arbiter named Sa'd ibn Mua'dh, from the Aws tribe. The Aws tribe being one of the supporters of the Banu Qurayza. This being in accordance with the Arabic tradition of appointing a third-party arbiter in cases where blood feud could be risked, as recorded by Abu-Nimer.

  • John 8:7 has nothing to do with Godly judgment.

But, fine. Then let's lower the standard; show me a church which ignores it.

  • Ah, the Koran, as well as Islam, is full of parables. The parable of the goodly tree, parables associated with charity (2:261-266), the parable of the light in the niche, not to mention the large variety of parables in the Sufi tradition.

Fact is, Luke 12:46 and at-Taubah 9:5 both literally say hurt people for God. If you are going to take an interpretation for one, you have to be willing to take that interpretation for another.

  • Indeed, you have been overwhelmingly consistent in building strawmen by taking my arguments against Islam and using them as if they were judgments against every single Muslim.
