Class K Extinguishers are typically mounted on the wall in the path of egress in a kitchen, they are hand held. What you are talking about is a Kitchen Hood system, these use fusable links on a cable that runs in the hood above the appliances. @lizmonique I'm not an expert, but from what I've been told, class K is mounted above stoves with a pull string, lever, button, etc, to release the chemical and put out a kitchen fire (in restaurants, schools, etc)

Class BC wont do anything to an A fire which is probably the most common type of fire. Gotta have a class ABC.

@pk4eva2 k class is strictly kitchen oriented for oils and food. typically they are about 6 liters for commercial kitchens.
