I feel no sympathy that this broadcast ended her career.

She seems to have suffered a stroke rather than be drunk.

@jimfurter Barbaras beautiful but she's had TONS of plastic surgery to look the way she does now. Regardless Jess did age rather rapidly into her 30's. Before that she had a stunning sexy look.

Looking at this video, I am even MORE convinced that Ms. Savitch wasn't on drugs...SHE WAS ILL! The slurred speech, drooping eyes, and smile-less, drooping eyes, r al symptoms of MYASTHENIA GRAVIS. I cud b very wrong....but I've had M.G. since I was 4, (rare), & I know! Most get M.G. in late 20s or early 30s..Ms. Savitch's age! I hope this can bring som comfort 2 survivors. I'm a native NYer who enjoyed her broadcasts a lot! With Love....

I know, if this happened today it would be no big deal, but back in 1983 what she did on air was a HUGE deal. It ruined her. Now people would get lots of publicity and become more famous for it. Believe me we live in a very different world now. By the way I like Anderson.

Jessica Savitch would have been 62 y.o. this year if it wasn't for that automobile accident that wasted her life. The accident would have been prevented if her driver Martin Fischbein did not drive during the heavy rainfall. he also perished too.
