  • @RayTech70 I'm still trying to figure out the connection between atheists and Hippocrates -- the Hippocratic oath, perhaps?

I guessed I missed the updated second edition of the Bible -- Was 'thou shalt not judge or persecute those who have different beliefs, sexual orientation, or any other opinions different from your own' added?

  • @thechessstick You're telling me to think for myself when all you're doing is repeating an ancient idea that makes you feel good because people who you trust told you it was real.

i think you should take some of your own advice.

  • Matt, you're just too damn rational =)

  • "I don't necessarily mean to be insulting to everybody.." Don't feel bad about it Matt! You are the one who convinced me to drop my last lingering supernatural beliefs and I am thankful for it. Don't apologize for speaking the truth as sincerely as you are able to. When someone has the courage to do that, it can help so many people.

  • -You can’t understand Christianity because you’re not a Christen.

=Then you can’t understand atheism for the same reason.

-The Old Testament isn’t relevant any more.

=So homosexuals won’t be burned forever and neither will you if you ever ate shellfish or wore polyester, trimmed your beard or ate pork? Dose that also mean the 10 commandments aren’t reliant anymore, along with the creation story the fall of man and need for Jesus to die and be resurrected in the first place?

  • @baxtar1963 I de-converted when Harold Camping came out with his crazy BS. Then I decided I HAD to do my duty as a christian and read the bible for myself objectively to make sure it makes sense. Because I was tired of listening to other people throw out verses and I didn't know them myself. I'm just saying.. they key may just be to challenge them to read it critically. Which yes I know that sounds impossible because it requires believing it on reason not faith... which is why I am now atheist.

  • It wouldn't matter if christians actually read the bible. They are too dense to recognize any issues or contradictions. Well I say they like its all of them. I meant to say 99 our a 100.

  • @DantehMan No problem.

  • @SNAKESOAP117 Right. I suppose then I should come up with a list of things that were said to be done in the Old Testament and should no longer be done because of Jesus's sacrifice. Thanks bud!

  • @DantehMan They usually disregard things in the old testament when it doesn't sound loving and nice. If you say "Oh that's the old testament Jesus died so it would change." Then fine, you can no longer persecute gays.

  • @SNAKESOAP117 Right, but their reasoning wasn't that they were disregarding the Old Testament, it's that Jesus's "sacrifice" made it so we don't have to suffer those punishments when we do what the Old Testament says we shouldn't. So I'm thinking, what then from the Old Testament to we follow and what do we disregard? And more importantly, how come I've NEVER heard about this before?
