They don't, they're fusion reactors. Fusion is finite, otherwise our sun wouldn't die and it wouldn't need fuel because if it were infinite it would be perpetual. Obviously not, same with the minovsky reactor, it's based on cold fusion, also finite. The minovsky engine's edge is creating minovsky particles and allowing the creation of mega particles, the minovsky craft and drive are separate machines though. The GN drive does it all.

It kinda does, the minovsky drive is self reliant in breaking escape velocity. There is NO lunar power station. And ships use minovsky crafts, larger more powerful and older versions of the minovsky drive. The gundams didn't use the assault containers and 00 didn't have its raiser yet. It was following that mission that they all went back to space to restock.

The GN is an amazing concept but it does have its flaws. First it relys on an external super computer to operate and that can be very problematic as I'm sure you saw, second the drives are always placed on the exterior of the machine most likely making them much more prone to damage, third a true GN is extremely expensive and time consuming to manufacture, and then there is the Trial system which can deactivate them all. And then TRANS-AM while amazing it usually seems to do more harm than good

No it doesn't, the Gundam OS did. During S2 CB cut itself from Veda to protect themselves from Innoveda. The drives are as sturdy as the machines themselves, not to mention the actual engine itself is under the thruster cone (yes it's not the actual engine itself). A true GN drives can only be manufactured on Jupiter, the real time was never mentioned, just design time. Trial only works if the suit's OS is connected to VEDA. Trans-am problem? Barely by S2.
