@MusicaRicercata The part you're thinking of is not the love theme. The love theme starts by going up a major 6th and contains leaps up and down of over an octave, while the part at 0:47 doesn't contain any such intervals. Also, the love theme has a very complicated harmony, and the part you mentioned is just strings in octaves. The love theme can be heard in a fast and unmetered form around the same time into the finale. Hope this clears up your misconception

The analysis is Messiaen's. He provided a movement by movement explanation which was reprinted in the CD booklet. I typed in what he said. Maybe he didn't feel it necessary to mention every detail, but only the motives of primary importance to the movement.
