  • I met Sam when I attended P.S.5 in the Bed Stuy section, played stickball when we were kids, went to the same schools. We played in the Restoration Biddy tournament in 1971. He was the star of the league ,He played for the Hawks in red , I played for the Knicks in orange. I scored 2 points in that tournament. He scored hundreds . He then was a star at Lane. I knew he'd be in the NBA. If he had'nt been drafted by the Bulls, he might have had a longer NBA career.

  • Sam went to San Jac Juco in Pasadena Tx. Cold pg, but no jumper(like all nyc players on the playground)(except Chris Mullin). At 6'6, dude could handle the pill.

  • he sat on the bench watching Jordan play, not easy to dissect the politics of the nba. One of the greatest point gods EVER!!!! Played like DWade, same tempo great coach on the floor.

  • Came up with Sam. Saw him play countless times. Taller flashier version of Mark Jackson. Tremendous point guard instincts & court vision. Even though his outside shot was definitely suspect on pure overall talent shoulda had a 10 year NBA career. Not sure why that did'nt happen. JMAX 618
