Hmm, well, it likely has different effects on different people. I'd imagine that if the gland in the brain that stores DMT (I forget the exact name of it at the moment, sorry), were to break, it'd probably make the person go unconscious and hallucinate, much like what happened. Much more reasonable a conclusion than "meeting Satan". XD
The main active ingredient in ayahuasca is DMT, but there's other chemicals there as well, granted.
