Lucas is messing with my mind again. Is he planning a "special edition" of Episode I? Here's just a clip inserted into Anakin's interview...

  • Episode I Yoda looks horrible, I'm so glad they're changing the scenes and inserting CGI Yoda. Btw, The Phantom Menace is a good film, don't hate ;)

  • @nepomusik Amen. I believe every episode is awesome in it's way.

  • @MrJazzHOP: I can see why some people don't like special effects, but let's not pretend puppets, matte-paintings, makeup, stop-motion and models look "real". They suspend disbelief, occasionally but they don't look real.

For all the directors you listed that have turned their backs on or won't touch CGI (Tarantino, Carpenter, Raimi) you might have listed some good directors instead. Thank goodness you didn't list Romero though.

  • The poster has embarrassed himself: does he really not know the difference between a puppet and The Muppets? Frank Oz performed this puppet and worked on The Muppets, but that doesn't mean every bit of puppetry he performs is therefore a Muppet.

Some of the other comments are also a bit embarrassing. People don't like CG because it doesn't look real? But puppets look real? Film looks real?

If you want reality, don't go to the cinema.

  • you can have more expression in his face with the CGI Yoda that's what i like, but i'm glad the puppet was there first. The actors seem more natural when they act with puppets then..u know...with nothing in front of them...and that's why i love the old starwars movies more..even if they did not have the techniques we have today...they seem more natural...more filled with life, if you understand what i mean :)

  • @NOcomunismo92 Now if only they could digitally remove Jar Jar.

  • @NOcomunismo92 The puppet may have been bad, but nowhere near as bad and wooden as this CG crap.

  • @MrJazzHOP Old movies like Full metal jacket and apocalypse now has better special effects than most movies today. Why? Because they aren't special effects, they are real!

Zodiac is the only movie i've ever seen that has 100% believability in it's special effects...

I think that they could have made a Yoda much better in CGI if they made the movie today

  • i love the muppet Yoda, and i love EPISODE 1 !

  • I hate the CGI shit the most. the computer touch-ups always looks fake and reworked! That's why Carpenter's The Thing still stands up today, as does Evil Dead 1 and 2. There's a reason why Tarantino hates CGI. Look mat Sam Raimi's Drag me To Hell, the last scene where the head morphs into a burning skull; it looks fake! Raimi conceded that it looked fake, as has vowed never to use CGI like that again! Let's hope not! Yoda original for me, always!!!

  • Screw Frank Oz. It (Yoda) looks good in the original trilogy (5-6), but the puppet looks like warm shit in the prequels. It didn't even move like the original one did, and didn't express any of the emotion in its facial mannerisms. Seriously, it annoyed more than the Jar-Jar thing. CGI prequel-Yoda looks boss.

  • i much prefer the muppet yoda, i can see why they made him cgi in ep 2 and 3 tho. still saying that i think muppets always look better then cgi
