this song makes me imagine myself driving a really old rusty pickup, rattling down the road through the desert, pouring sweat with a cigarette in my mouth and a bottle of whiskey in my hand.

IIIRC the house this was recorded at in France was a former Nazi SS headquarters and the wrought iron ventilator grates in the whole place had swastikas in the design, supposedly this inspired the writing of this song

@dimiballas - <- I became interested in this song when I heard 'Gatemouth' do it (at a blues festival in Maryland) - in fact I was so impressed I bought the album for this track. I uploaded the Stones version hoping people would 'discover' a fine but relatively obscure track. I have to agree with you however, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown's version is brilliant. Perhaps I should post it.
