Well, I think it's fair to say that this song is going to be The Lonely Islands most successful release to date -- they only uploaded the video a month ago and it's already been viewed 25m times! Well done to The Dudes, and especially Michael Bolton for being such a star!

I made the decision to post a couple of version of the track -- one as it appears on the album, the other without the gunshot FX -- just in case you want to make a parody that doesn't feature guns!

In terms of production this has been the trickiest instrumental to work on, especially getting the snare rolls right (the ones leading into the chorus), and the main sound for the chorus itself.

I ended up using 12 musical layers for the chorus, the 'standouts' being the Roland D50 'Pizzagogo' sound, and the use of double transposed strings to bring out the 'squeaky' sound! A video tutorial will explain more methinks!

Also, when I came to put the video together, I had the problem of where to put Michael Bolton's lyrics as a lot of the time he sings over the boys. They also say things under the parts Michael sings, so I made the decision to put those parts at the bottom of the screen, and also to colour code them for easier recognition. I hope this helps!

I'd once again like to thank you all for your support -- without it I wouldn't be remaking these tracks! I read all your comments and try to reply to messages personally, but please don't take any offense if I don't get back to you -- it's a time thing for me (I virtually have non!).

I'm now going to start work on some video tutorials so you can see how I deconstructed/reconstructed these tracks. I'm also going to start working on another track from the album; I wonder which one it'll be... :)!

@WestlandsMusic Hey Westlands! If my memory serves me correctly the synths used in the outro (which weaves itslef through the choruses too) came mainly from reFX Nexus and Cakewalk z3ta+. I'm in the studio later tonight so I'll take a proper look at the file and let you know! B
