"Sex in a Pan" Composed by: Victor Lemonte Wooten who dedicated this to James Brown for "Sex Machine" and all his inspiring grooves -from Flecktone's UFOTOFU liner notes. Also, I've heard Bela say (from a differant live performance) that "Sex in a Pan" was named after a dessert made in South Carolina! Must be some dessert! :-)

Performed by THE FLECKTONES:
Five-String Banjo: Bela Fleck
Electric Bass: Victor Wooten
Drumitar: Future Man

Joined by Special Guests:
Acoustic Bass: Edgar Meyer
Mandolin: Sam Bush

"The Road" was another great music show that CMT produced from 1994 to 1997. Every week, this show featured many artists from all over the "musical map." Unfortunately, I can't find these shows and where I can buy them! So, hopefully one day...the producers will get these episodes on DVD and get the word out!

This particular show aired: 3/3/95 and featured Nanci Griffith; Bela Fleck; Marty Stuart. (All I have is Bela's Performance-sorry!)

  • awesome. vic is an amazing bassist and bela fleck & the flecktones flay beautifully together. just one question though. whats with the synthax drumtar, i can't even hear it, is it just me or is it not turned up enough?

  • You know what? I think you're right! The drumitar is very low! I checked the VHS and it's the same way...so that means it's unfortunately just a bad mix from the show.

  • Awesome! You should get a "Youtube-medal" for keeping legendary clips alive!

  • Thanks!!! I'm only doing this now 'cause it's something new, and I really enjoy reading what other fans have to say. But YOU made my day! :-)

  • is it pronounced "droomitar" of "drum itar"?

  • The 2nd is correct...drumitar. Looks like a guitar, but sounds like a drum (plus a whole lot more!)

  • i dont know why , but i think the best bass lines of wooten are with bela fleck, i lisent a lot of wooten solos, and with other guys, but when i see him with bela fleck, he got the best tunes .

  • sorry the cuestion, but what is the name of the musician with the smallest instrument ? i want to find more music from that guy

  • Just when I thought could it get better, i heard the end of the song (3:25)...wow...

  • @VideoSamaritan Actually it is so it doesn't interfere with the mandolin chop, considering the mandolin chop and the snare drum on a drum is pretty much the same thing, they probably turned the drums down so you could actually hear the mandolin. ^^

  • I like Fleck's houndstooth getup.

  • @johnscck Roy Wilfred Wooten is pretty awesome too... (AKA Future Man; RoyE)

  • @johnscck

Lets not forget Roy Wilfred Wooten (AKA Future Man; RoyE)

Victor's older Brother ....on the Drumitar !

  • I love the ending. The double bass response is the best i think even though its so simple! Great upload thanks!

  • I never tire of watching Bella and the musicians he works with. Truly amazing fun and creative guys.

  • Wow... bass part at 2:30 !
