  • I've played with him on two different accasions, one when he was at his best and one towards the end of his career when he was not so great. At his best no one could play more beatifully than him. He was a great artist and with tone of great beauty.

  • I used to love Jascha Heifetz's version, but I am now leaning towards the interpretation of Henryk Szerng. It is absolutely beautiful with full of emotions. Brings lumps in my throat every time.

  • @ clasicgypsy Let me put it this way. If Vitali heard the Heifetz version, he would probably think "this is EXACTLY what I had in mind", but if he heard Szernyg's version; he would go "Hello! I didn't know it could sound like this too.."

  • @stringsattached8998 This is not to criticize such artists as H.Szeryng and I.Heifetz. But I do have a little problem with your wording ... "Heifetz play everything as it should be played" First how can we say that - this is the way it should be played?! ...and secondly we know that great artists have their unique style ! That's the reason we recognize Heifetz's style from a sea of violinists!

  • Henryk Szeryng is and was one of the greatest violinist of the 20th century. His interpretation of the the Chaconne by Vital is Fabulous...Bravo, Bravo Henryk!

  • Heifetz plays everything as it should be played; Szernyg just adjusts everything to his own unique style....fantastic stuff

  • @jhglobal1 yea..they really did here a very deep, balanced and colorful rendition

  • Anyone noticed the unique balance of the piano accompaniment? Its really a gem!!

  • Bravo....one of my favorite versions of this. I had an experience with Maestro Szeryng when he performed a Bach sonata..I took out the music to follow along, and he just glared at me until I very sheepishly put the music away. They don't make em like that any more.

  • 4: 30 ish chilling just hauntingly beautiful and poignant...if notes can be poignant, these are

  • beautiful.....
