My aunt was married to a guy named Bill Bailey who deserted her. My dad, her brother, used to always sing Bill Bailey when we were kids. I had no idea there was a story behind it concerning my aunt until years later after she died. I love Jimmy Durante!

Jimmy was 62 years old when he did this routine , and I saw it on TV, a black and white TV, at age 10. We were the first family on the block to get a TV that year in 1955. There was one channel which came on about 6:30 am and signed off with America the Beautiful at 11:55 pm. I rarely got to stay up that late. Jimmy could not sing well, told corny jokes, mostly about his Snozzola [ nose ], and wasn't good looking... but he made us laugh and feel good. God Bless You Jimmy.

This is an incredible video! My mom was one of the Wanda Smith Cover Girls and I just showed her this video. Talk about bringing back memories for her as well as my dad (who was a comedian in the vaudeville days).
