Hurricane Ida: Gulf Coast Surfing

The waves generated by Hurricane Ida were less than what gulf coast surfers were hoping for, but at least there was something. This is some footage shot with a little DV video camera while I was waiting for the tide to start coming back in. I hope the song conveys the angst that builds among gulf coast surfers when experiencing one of the most anticlimactic hurricane seasons ever. Thankfully, the East Coast is just a couple of hours away.

we got bigger waves in jerz. but you are in boardshorts and no shirt. we are in 3/2 4/3 or 5/4/3's with boots gloves and hoods in the morning. haha. well worth it though

Absolutely! I heard a surfer drowned up in Rockaway during the last storm. But another thing we Gulf Coast surfers have is Cocoa Beach just 2 hrs away from Tampa. Looking like chest high tomorrow with a water temp of 78 degrees. I'll let you know how it is. :~)
