Hi - I'm a percussionist who happened on your video looking for good glock tone... thought I'd attempt your questions in case they haven't been answered. A directional mic above the key you're hitting (pointed straight down of course) is the best I've found. Depending on the tone you want, very hard plastic or brass-tipped mallets are best. The latter will give a more "classic" sound. I'm assuming these were already answered for you since this is old, but there you go. Good luck and thanks!
