Dance Audition Guide

I know this is a beauty channel - but i decided to post this up for all the dancers out there!
Leave your tips and questions below :D I hope this helps some nervous dancers out there!!!

What to wear:
-A dark colored (or black) flattering leo. Cami or tank NO HALTERS
-Dont wear warm-ups
-Pink footed tights (worn once!) with ballet slippers
-nothing new!! incase of slipups
-While going there, wear warm-ups to stretch in before the audition
-Follow dresscode, pull hair back (in bun usually romantic or high)

What to eat:
-One day before: For those who dance best on an empty: High calcium and carbs and light small meals (calcium pills, milk, lean meats, yogurt)
Day of: milk with lean cereal (no fiber problems with waste) with banana.
2 hrs before water! (dont drink too much!) and a pb sandwich
1 hr before: protein bar and water
Stay hydrated but dont overdrink in case of bloating
Like to eat:
day before: High carbs and veggie diet (CALCIUM)
Day of: Eat a carb breakfast and a light sandwich and soup for lunch.
protein bar with milk before.

Preparations:
Bring an extra
leo
pair of tights (no runs!)
toe shoes (if not specified bring anyways)
toe pads
toe clippers
medical tape
bobby pins and clips and hair ties and hairspray
tyloneol/advil
photo
resume
tampon/pad
energy bar (for after)
water!!
warmups

Get there at LEAST ½ an hour early!! Bring all photos etc. Large auditions are crowded so get there as early as possible
Stretch relax!! Keep stretching it helps the nerves, listen to some relaxing music that you find soothes you.
Remember, this is just like any other class.
Meditation

During the audition:
Most are a 1.5 hr 2 hr class containing Usually a barre, center work combo (grande allegro etc.) and sometimes pointe work/contemporary. Every modern/ballet intensive has a ballet class as the audition.
Smile!!!
Ask questions if necessary! People are looking for dancers that are willing to learn!
Sip water stay hydrated!

Most letters of acceptance come 11/2 -2 weeks after the auditions. Some are later, some are earlier.

Danca's rock! Ha I'm a dancer, and this video IS helpful. I agree with you on many things. This is a reallly DIFFRENT video from all the other ones on youtube, and its awesome. Thanks for helpin all the dancers! My only thing negative (sorry) is there isnt much mention to hip hop dancers. Thats what I am, just thought id throw that in. I'm a jazz dancer and I have an audition in 5 days, I've been dancing for about 3 years but this is my first audition. I have know Idea what to wear, my leotard is bright red!!! Help!!
