Well, I have two reactions. The Navy guys are great, but the ROE are absurd. They see weapons on a vessel that is trying to engage a commercial vessel and they can't sink them??? Pirates are running away, flash an RPG and they can't sink them??? This is what happens when military force is limited by the judicial considerations. No wonder the problem exists. If you want to end the situation, sink the damn pirate vessels.

I've seen some GM's on this video manning the guns on the ship, but I thought they can be a part of a VBSS team? Can anyone confirm this?

@mixflip USCG Law Enforcement Detachments are often assigned to USN surface vessels that are deployed in the Gulf of Aden, if I'm not mistaken.

I find it highly unlikely that an RPG could do anything substantial to a freighters hull, but what would I know about it.

@pickinthatbanjo Well an RPG has a copper shape charge that changes into a molten blast of copper that can penetrate steel armor on tanks. I have no doubt that it could penetrate the 1 inch thick hull of a civilian cargo ship. Granted it must hit a specific area of the ship to do any real damage like a fuel storage area or the bridge?
