This model was a kit from Robbe in the eighties. The exact replica of a Norwegian Fishing Trawler is already in its normal state a beautiful display but our club member Roland Thurner turned it to a real eye catcher. He not only built it very nicely but also included lots of further details.
The vessel made its maiden journey in June 2009 that is way we like to share that moment with you.
If you like have a look at our other movies or visit us on our web page www.askweb.ch.
Needs ballast. Rides too high and heavy on the bow.
I know, I skipper real Trawlers in life.

@michaelpilot1000 You are right, of course. As written in the intro text this was the maiden voyage where Roland checked the vessel for the first time. In modeling this is a quite normal process to build the boat as light as possible. When in water you can add ballast at the right spot in the right amount to get her to the waterline and keep it in balance. By now she lays just perfect in the water and it is a pleasure to pilot her.

Many thanks for your kind words and I count it as an extraordinary compliment as most hobbits never saw a boat in their whole life (except for the brandybucks af as I recall) and therefor feel quite a discomfort with water, boats and the sort. ;-) (any Tolkin expert might correct, thanks).

Yes! Just try it. You will see it is great fun constructing such a vessel. This model kit is unfortunatelly no longer available but there are plenty other great kits. I personally like the ones from Billing Boats (now sold by Robbe), for example the "Andrea Gail" seams really nice and quite comparable to the "Sagitta Bergen". Just search the internet for RC Model Andrea Gail. I am sure you might find this kit in Australia too.
