So... you want a notebook that doesn't look like every other laptop on the market, has enough power for photo and video editing, a huge screen, battery power to burn, and an "executive style?"

Well look no further...

On this episode of 'gadget' we review the Gateway MC7803u. This beautiful piece of uberArt sports a 16" widescreen LCD, 320GB of storage, 4GB of memory, almost 4 hours of battery life and a 2GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo CPU.

  • Back-lit keys! Dammit! D:

They should have added that on the MD series! They're just as awesome.

  • IIMayhewII,

It is a pretty cool feature! :)

  • ive been looking for a laptop thats good for video editing, but this one lacks firewire. i was totally convinced to check this laptop out untill you said it doesnt have firewire.

  • enjoyone,

I'm of the same mind. Lack of firewire has been a killer for many a notebook. However, we're starting to make our transition to HD video from solid-state storage and firewire is becoming less important. --- Still, I totally understand your dissapointment because I share in it!

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

    .

P.S. Their P-Series notebooks DO have firewire.

  • Couldn't you just find a PCMCA card that has firewire output?

  • NewtonicProductions,

Well yes and no... New notebooks don't have PCMCIA slots, they're equipped with a single ExpressCard slot. I typically reserve my ExpressCard slot for a Yoggie device or other high-bandwidth unit. The point being made is, "why should I have to use up my ExpressCard slot to get the funcitonality of a port that should be standard equipment?"

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert
