  • This is a great intention in pblishing this song!

Also remarkable: The beginning of the second verse (Minute: 00:51)!

  • Thanks but wonder what exactly you mean by 00:51

  • Excellent version. What nationality are you mate?

  • Thanks. I am an Iranian. have a look at my website in my profile.

    Regards

  • Very nice.. It is my favourite song, it has so much meaning and it was written by a man who died for a cause... This version is one of the best I've heard as your voice is unique. 5/5

  • I am happy you enjoyed it.This is a nice song and strange thing is that whenever I play it for those who even do not understand English they enjoy the tune. The song is very long and I had problem singing it all so I made it short perhaps I will perform a better video with a harmonica and guitar.

  • fair play m8, u sing this well, are u aussie? u have a great voice on this tune

  • Robert Gerard Sands(Roibeard Gearóid Ó Seachnasaigh) was a political prisoner at Long Kesh prison. In 1981 he and nine others began a hunger strike for POW status. After 66 days of hunger-striking, he died.

God love, and hold you close Bobby Sands. RIP

  • This was good!

  • yes buh booby sands wrote it so theyre for im not suprised to c ppl writing about bobby sands on this page

    brillant song fukin lov it

  • Out frigging standing tune, reminds me of me mates band that ran new england in the early 90's! (1st time i heard the tune) RIP Bobby Sands. Tiocfaidh ar la'

  • Yeah. The guy that wrote it used the music from the Gordon Lightfoot song. I think Lightfoot borrowed it, too.

The wikipedia article for "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" doesn't say anything about Lightfoot using music from another song, but I seem to remember hearing this on some Discovery Channel show about the Edmund Fitzgerald.

  • great song but i dont understand why all these posts are saying how great a guy bobby sands the terrorist was. Is this song not about pre 1916 when the irish as well as others i have to add got shipped off to australia?

  • Bobby Sands da Hunger striker of 1981 Wrote it Whilst in his Prison Cell..RIP

  • I was wondering if anyone else thought that it sounds just like the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. I like it, though.

  • Oh, well, actually, I wanted to say that, especially, your interpretation of "Van Dieman's land is a hell for a man..." is well done - and if you look at your video's time: You start with this (second) verse at

    Minute 00:51.

    Best wishes!
