During daylight riders often forget that lights are needed, however, consider motorbikes or Volvo cars, why do their lights come on automatically in daylight ? All too often daylight is when lights are most needed; just think about the difference a single cloud passing in front of the sun can make to the light ! a bright sunny day turns into a half light, shadows from overhanging tree branches, from buildings or bridges all make riders much harder to see.
Traditional lights shine a beam of light that becomes narrower the further away from it you are in normal or ambient light, this is why you often do not see lights until you are quite close. Pedalite lights on the Anklelite or Baglite/Lite Harness are different, they are floodlights, flooding the whole light chamber with light and have the unusual ability of being more visible the further away from them you are in daylight or ambient light! Of course they also work just as well in the dark.
