This was an assignment for A.P. Chemistry class at Horizon Science Academy Cleveland high school ( http://www.hsas.org/ ). The students collaborated with the school's video club in order to make the movie. There are only about 300 traps with 600 balls in this video. We plan on going bigger soon.

Special Thanks to Tomcat (http://tomcatbrand.com) for donating the mouse traps and Pingpongballs.net for donating the balls. We couldn't have done this without your support.

Several Fingers were harmed in the making of this video.

Thank you for watching.

An alpha emitter launches an alpha particle (basically a helium nucleus) into the nucleus of another element, which "knocks" a neutron out of that nucleus. Polonium and Radium both undergo alpha decay. Beryllium is placed in proximity to the Polonium or Radium. The alpha particle knocks a neutron free from the Beryllium which is then able to start the chain reaction. (Radium emits alpha--->Beryllium----->neutron---->U235=ouch)

Original? Not entirely. Better than the rest? Absolutely!

Research papers aren't very original either. We never claimed originality for the mouse trap/ping pong balls.

This was awesome, I'm actually learning about Fission and Fusion right now in my science class and my teacher suggested we'd find videos showing it.
