Diablo 1- Terrifying, ambient, and dark fantasy story about a brave hero descending into the depths of hell to save a village and condemning himself.

Diablo 2- Not as terrifying but still probably the epitome of the Diablo series, great story that expands on original and takes you to new places never before seen, and you fight not only Diablo but his demonic brethren.

Diablo 3- WoW copycat with terrible art design and shitty balance.

Also the only new area is Heaven and it looks Protoss

D3 can't even come a dream's distance away from the brilliance of D1 and D2. I mean just the cover and music to this video alone speaks volumes. Pure brilliance.

Scared the crap out of me when I was 11 and played it after my parents went to bed in the upstairs 3rd floor office. 4:00 is the best part IMO

D2 was far from perfect on release, but it wasn't the debacle that D3 was. No inability to even play single player due to a stupid DRM rule, no need to dish out more money to get good equipment.  Plus, there was less online gaming competition back in 2000. People nowadays have far more options to turn to if a game is subpar.

it seems that everyone seems to forget Diablo 2 in its release had just as many people complaining about how bad it was. For example: ladder wasn't released until a year after, and a lot of people only continued playing after many big patches that spanned across 2-3 years from when the game came out. However I agree, Diablo 3 is garbage and no patches will improve it.

I do play and I can't get myself to continue. Normal mode on Diablo 1 was actually relatively challenging, but I literally fell asleep playing D3 one night. Never worry about dying on the first run through and I can't stand it. Good luck falling asleep with THIS music droning in the background.

There is one gem of a theme that's often overlooked. In the Hellfire expansion. The Demon Crypts theme is just as fucked up as anything in the original D1.

imo they can polish it much as they want, it never will feel part of the diablo series... The art design, story, atmosphere etc.. Just not the same... Anyways if you enjoy it then that's what matters...
