@captwasabi Look, there's a place for government involvement/intervention. The conservatives have legitimate arguments about Obama's plans, but the whole Grover Norquist destroy-the-govenment approach ain't it. You conservatives need a new script. REAGAN IS DEAD. @captwasabi Ach! Don't make this so easy for me! Bob Byrd and George Walllac (eventually) disavowed their racists pasts. As for Strom, he didn't, but what did he do? He became a Republican!! It's not about party affiliation, but political ideology. The conservatives/racists went from being Democrats (Jackson) to being Dixiecrats (Wallace) to being Republicans (Reagan). Liberals went from being Republicans (Lincoln, Roosevelt) to being Democrats (Roosevelt, Kennedy, Obama). That's the history.

You may prefer to have your every decision made for you in order for you to be able to disavow yourself of anything even remotely resembling responsibility. Republicans freed the blacks and made them citizens whereas Democrats did everything they could to prevent that. Strom Thurmond, Bob Byrd and George Wallace were all Democrats. As for the nazi comment, the German American Bund of the 1930's was composed primarily of Demcorats so you tell me who is the hate filled party?

Marginalized any minorities lately by telling them they are unable to compete in a level playing field and need the government to protect them?
