The Crown Fire began in northern Los Angeles County (Palmdale) on July 29, 2010. The blaze has consumed almost 14,000 acres and several structures. At the time of this writing the fire is 87% contained thanks to the efforts of over 1,300 personnel on scene. Firefighting assets on this incident have included several helitankers, fixed-wing aircraft and the DC-10 and 747 supertankers. This video shows footage from day #2 of the fire.

  • 0:48 is that hose in the fire?

  • @lalov10 Yep. Unfortunately they ran the line right through the fresh black and burned right through it. That's why the FF on the nozzle ran back up with it in his hand to get a new line.

  • The crews in the orange jumpsuits are inmate crews who are supervised by sworn personnel (in yellow).

  • Where is the incident commander? You used the term I/C in the title. I'm not sure why there is a "/" in the title as "IC" refers to and only refers to the "Incident Commander." At no point during the video is the incident commander shown.

  • This is very very good footage….

  • whats the refill rate and capacity of the skycrane's

  • I can't even begin to stress the need for FFs to use all PPE all the time. To not do so is stupid and careless. I fought fires there for years for the ANF long before the current PPE was availible and it was rough. Firefighters die or are horribly disabled without it. This isn't about how macho you are or about how much you can take. It is about doing your job well and going home safe.

  • Yea If u have to pull down your shroud your to close to the fire, besides I've dug line and fight fire with no water and dnt need shroud down

  • @rosales18 if you are referring to the footage that stars at 46 sec they are cal fire and they are from tuu they can take the heat just smart enough the keep them selfs safe while making a aggressive attack on the fire
