@Chuckles2979 many knew but also many didnt... my grandmother(in norway) took a girl from germany after the war so that she could live better and gain some fat, she told her that her father was shot when not cooperating with a nazi officer who wanted them to shoot american hostages, how she knew this? his diary ;)

@uofjim What a laugh! Most Germans followed Hitler willingly, why, because he did, in the early years, do great things for Germany, ending the Depression. At first, the people were terrified when he led Germany to war. but in the dizzying victories of 39 and 40 they again came to support him fully.
Those Germans against Hitler were very few and scattered. It was not until things started going bad that resistance numbers grew.
And most Germans knew full well what was happening to Jews and Slavs
