The popular vote doesn't matter. Look up Jackson and Adams presidential race. The same thing happened there Jackson got more votes but Adams won because he got more Representative votes. Let me add that US corporations openly aided fascist dictators of Europe as well. For example corporations like IBM, ITT and Ford motor company were supplying Hitler with huge amounts of material.
