Columbia Pike Blues Festival 2011

The latest one was held on Saturday, June 18, 2011. This is an annual blues music festival in Arlington, Virginia. It is free to the general public, various sponsors underwrite its expenses. Every year it is held, a roster of about 6-8 blues bands will perform sets of about an hour each. It is held on Walter Reed Drive, near the intersection with Columbia Pike. A few blocks are made pedestrian friendly, with auto traffic diverted so that street vendors, performers, staff and the public can safely celebrate. It is a colorful, fun, mellow-vibed affair, with an upbeat, relaxed, bohemian air. This year the weather was great, not too hot, overcast (no bad sunburns), not a drop of rain fell. People enjoyed themselves. The performers, staff and volunteers did a fantastic job.

There is one issue I want to tell YouTube viewers. I shot this on 4:3 aspect ratio, standard definition. I tried various times to burn it correctly to the DVD and upload it, but it always comes out stretched wide, which distorts the actual perspective. Probably the only way to remedy this is to shoot in High Def, Wide Screen, which will not confuse any computer burning or transfer programs.

Personally, I like using Standard Def on occasions because it saves disc space.
