People who complain about lorries should be banned from purchasing anything that's been delivered by lorry.
Yeah by all means put freight on rails, I would really love a job on the railways. sadly not many Asda stores have sidings, do they? The Beeching cuts in the '60s obliterated the rail infrastructure we need right about the time your grandparents were buying their first car.

@TridentTrucking understand that public transport is rubbish in many areas including mine, but you drive to your work place, we are in our work place, if car drivers and some lorry drivers had a bit more savvy and common sence we wouldnt have this, no one is perfect, in the test we are taught that we should be in the inside lane as much as possible, the problems come when you have lorrys restricted to 52 53 56 56.5 58 mph and we cant overtake as quick, we have a whole set of regs for ourselves.

@sjpb1982 ive always said we should take note from euro partners which means as soon as our cabs come level the slower truck pulls back, the issue sometimes isnt a truck over taking a truck its sometimes slow cars who speed up an slow along side us keeping us out if every lorry was set to 56 we wouldnt have the issue at hand, taking a HGV test is a big eye opener for all you learn and appreciate the behicles involved and the problems we face, fair enough you see your car as a nessesity i can

@TridentTrucking My car is a necessity. Where I live I need it to get to work as the publc transport doesn't operate when I have to leave home. I work 365 days a year too. I have an issue with people that take miles to overtake another truck whilst blocking the entire road. I have no need to take a lorry test.

@Trustisaliability not always many factors means we go slow like the fact we are loaded even the 500 magnum i have slows on hills at her max wieght, another thing people dont really know is on single carrige way national speed limit roads HGV's are restricted by law to 40mph not our fault its the law yes alot break it but its to stop you lot from over taking and having a head on thats the only one i can justify and its under review atm by government

@sjpb1982 from some one who doesnt know a thing about it, i emplore you to take a HGV artic test and then see why around 80% of people fail it, we are classified as the professional drivers granted there are twits out there but its the same every where we are a nessesity not a luxury your car is a luxury you choose to drive we do it to feed our families and its people like us that ensure you have the food on your table on time all the time 365 days a year and yes we work xmas day too

@TeeDog63 perhapse we should all just stopp hauling then cause i garentee every single person myself included will suffer, and im guessing your not a driver and someone who knows nothing about it either.
BTW im an operator i bring you everything including the computer that your probably going to reply to this on.

@sjpb1982 its not always possible bear in mind german rail system is modern ours is 150 yrs old, whats more high cubed containers cant go alot of places because the victorian bridges are not tall enough, to get a box into manchester from felixstowe the train has to go via edinbrugh which can take upto 2 days where i only take 5 hours, maybe efficent in germany but not here

@sjpb1982 ??
Probably the car driver isn't paying attention, but may a) have a problem with the car b) be feeling unwell c) be low on gas and nursing to the next set of pumps d)have a neurotic mother-in-law on board who has panic attack over 40mph....
