  • smashing vid again, highlights for me are what looks like a diverted buxton - northwich at4:33,those vacuum braked hoppers must have been fifty years old before they was scrapped, and nice to see some 37/9`s as well, ta for posting

  • I believe you are right about the Buxton-Northwich hoppers. We also had them on a Tunstead-Collyhurst Street working, footage of which I will be posting in the near future.

  • At 3:38, is that a Intercity-painted 37 pulling freight?

  • Yes, Although some of the class retained their InterCity colours, at this time, their main duties were hauling freight.

  • You sound like you've got R2D2 behind you at 02:30 onwards :D

  • That bloody robot was always blowing into my microphone. Blame George Lucas !!!!

  • Great video John :-)

  • I went inside on of those as a kid. I was stood looking at a stationary train on the line to Grimsby/Cleethorpes, at Great Coates. The crew were doing some kind of track maintenance and the asked if i wanted to go aboard. First and last time i went inside the drivers section of a train.

I remember the sound of them too, since i've always lived close to the line. Great days, and no, i'm not a spotter. :)

  • Great to watch. Thanks for sharing. It gives me inspiration to do a painting of these magnificent engines. Not done one of these yet. Thanks again..

  • As a kid in the mid-70s my first OO gauge model was a blue 37.............I never realised at the time the variety and range of locos that would be produced 20 or 30 years later as well as the major improvements in quality.

  • They used to run from Inverness to aberdeen they were good

  • @alexsuchapimp Some operators do, orthough EWS or now DB Skencher sold off there fleet in 2010.

  • why wer the 37s from the nums 37 7, 37,8 37,9s had the same power as the 56s and 58s and weighed heavier whers as the 37s from 37 ,0 up to 37,6s less powerfull and lighter??

  • thank you so much for this video, it has given me insperation for my model railway

    many thanks from australia!!!
