I went inside on of those as a kid. I was stood looking at a stationary train on the line to Grimsby/Cleethorpes, at Great Coates. The crew were doing some kind of track maintenance and the asked if i wanted to go aboard. First and last time i went inside the drivers section of a train.
I remember the sound of them too, since i've always lived close to the line. Great days, and no, i'm not a spotter. :)

As a kid in the mid-70s my first OO gauge model was a blue 37.............I never realised at the time the variety and range of locos that would be produced 20 or 30 years later as well as the major improvements in quality.

I believe you are right about the Buxton-Northwich hoppers. We also had them on a Tunstead-Collyhurst Street working, footage of which I will be posting in the near future.

At 3:38, is that a Intercity-painted 37 pulling freight?
Bellwestern80 3 years ago
Yes, Although some of the class retained their InterCity colours, at this time, their main duties were hauling freight.
