@nasdparis I'm from North Philly and even though I had moved to Memphis by then I remember coming home and getting turned on to Breakwater. I took the album back to Memphis and blew my friends' minds. I use to play and I remember bands use to battle in Philly all the time. Back in the 60's and 70's the Soul Devalents, a local band blew away Kool and the Gang at the Blue Horizon, at the Top and Bottom Cabaret put on by Club Bourbon. Philly had the musicians back then and we knew how to party!

Can anyone help me out with a song title and artist? There is a frequently heard old school r&b song that i can't identify. I hear it often on Philly area radio stations the music is very rhythmic similar to this song and some often repeated lyrics in it are:the way I like it watching you do your thing, the way I like it makes me want to sing. Just heard it today on WRNB 107.9 after this song was played. I tried searching here but can't find it.

philly was the place to be in the late 70's!!! breakwater would practice and party in a storefront on market street bet 59th & 60th streets. philly had the bands breakwater, brutus, raw image. who remembers the battle of the bands at myers playground 58th & chester ave. The blockparties and plateau(teau) would blow this out. at the plateau we would dance in the dirt at the bottom of the hill near the concession stand.
