From Zuma (1975)
-------------------------
Danger Bird

Danger bird, he flies alone
And he rides the wind
back to his home
Although his wings
have turned to stone

And we used
to be so calm
Now I think
about you
all day long
'Cause you've been
with another man
Here you are
and here I am.

That's the moment
that he cracked
long ago in the
museum with his
friends.

The jailbird takes the raps
And he finds himself
spread-eagled on the tracks
But the training that he learned
will get him nowhere fast.

And I know we
should be free
But freedom's just
a prison to me
'Cause I lied
to keep it kind
When I left you
far behind.

With the rain
pounding on his
back he recalls
the moment that
he cracked long
ago in the museum
with his friends.
And like those
memories the rain
keeps pounding
down, down, down.

And though these wings
have turned to stone
I can fly fly fly away.
Watch me fly above the city
Like a shadow on the sky.
Fly, fly, fly.

  • @joninwakey ahah a tee pee! Excellent, I never heard that one. Must have been a great concert, no matter what he played. Ahhh... the time when people could smoke in public places! I rarely go to concerts but he's one of the people I'd like to see - I mean, before he leaves.

  • @oliverecords I went to see Neil Young play the Tempodrome in Berlin, sometime back in the 1980s. The concert was moved to this tent called the Tempo drome for some reason and when Neil came onstage he said, "Jeez I didn't know I was gonna play in a tee pee" - pure classic. I was right at the front of the stage but you know what, I cannot remember a single song he played. Guess the euphoria, beer and smoke got the better of me - but I enjoyed the moment.

  • OMG, I think this is his best album! Floating

  • @TheFriedKimchi I'm glad I grew up in the 90's so I have 20 less years of your bitching

  • @joninwakey Hi! Yeah it seems hard finding anything related to this album. I remember that in the "Rust never sleeps" concert they play Cortez the killer" for instance but I don't know for the other songs anymore.

  • @oliverecords I decided to listen to this track again 10 months after my last comment. It's a pity I cannot find any videos of this or Stupid Girl. I wonder where Zuma ranks in Neil's own preferences ?

  • Sick responses to this song...you fuck off and die of AIDS. What Shit!!!!!

  • @Suicidalfamily I've always preferred "Fuck off and die of AIDS as an alpaca slowly packs your ass with heated rocks" myself.
