The sophomore assignment was this: Adapt any piece of literature, be it a poem or a novel, and portray it without dialogue.

I chose Kafka's "The Metamorphosis", played around with the metaphor, and made this.

This was the first time I was able to film 16mm through an Arri S. Like a Bolex, they're built like tanks, but the registration pin makes for a much steadier picture.

  • GREAT JOB :)

  • thank you very much! this has helped me out no end as, for my GCSE drama i have to be gregor and this has taught me a lot about what i can do! awesome filming, well done!

  • I reaally enjoyed this.

  • Perfect

  • they way you present Gregor as seeing himshelf as still human is great yet the family sees him what he truly has turned into.

  • 6:36 nearly killed me! This is an absolute masterpiece. Everything is perfect.

  • that should be 3:29 that creeps me out (although technically it is at 3:33 where the real chills set in)

  • I am very excited. What an ending! I have no objection to your concept of capturing Time and Mind through eyes of family depicted in the novel. great actors. among other things, your distant camera work is very right!!!

  • Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention..... All that without dialog, too! WOW. That is TRULY impressive!!

  • WOW!! You sure know a lot about film making! I'm am truly impressed. I wouldn't know where to begin with the subject. But from the looks of your "info" on the side combined with this suspenseful homemade(?) video/film, I'd have to admit that you have captured my attention to the detail and the creativity, and especially the scenes you chose to put together. What a mind blowing experience! I would not know how to critique anything from a film maker's view, probably, but from a viewer.....WOW!
