This is Don Weis's fascinating Adventures of Hajji Baba from 1954. If you're like me, you've only heard of this film through the praise of Jonathan Rosenbaum. I think it makes his 1000-film list in Essential Cinema.

This version is the French widescreen, sans sous-titres. There is a pan-and-scanned English version out there, but I don't have it.
Enjoy.

  • Turok25's upload is also "pan & scan" after the credits, so you lose about half the image... As they'd say in this version, "Quel dommage..." Now if someone could find a way to synch turok's soundtrack with this image, we'd be in business... :)

  • This is not in any English I ever heard....LOL!

  • @turok25

He has uploaded in English original, though the downside is that the picture quality is very poor.

  • Love Miss Kitty

  • @dogsandcats546 - I scrounged around and found some old John Derek movies.

You are right!! He was soooo hot. The movies that he acted in are extremely hard to find.

  • omg!!! thanks so much for posting this. I have it on VHS, and am sad that my vcr refuses to work with my tv. I soooo miss watching John Derek (soooo handsome). sigggghhhhhh. Love the costumes.

  • This movie is absolutely hilarious. I first saw it in the theaters when I was ten years old, and have never quite gotten over it. It's shown occasionally on Turner Classic Movies. It's not on DVD. I think you might be able to find a copy on VHS. I cannot possibly tell you how much I'd love to have a "Hajji Baba" party with all of the guests dressed as a character from the movie.

  • Someone recommended that I see this and I just wanted to say thanks for uploading it! I have to say that I do wish I could find the original version (that is, while it's great that the French version is here I wish the English one was available as well) - does anyone know if there's any chance at all of tracking a copy down?

  • come into my tent- waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaugh
