In 2008 - 2009 The Phoenicia Ship Expedition will attempt to sail a 600BC replica Phoenician vessel clockwise around Africa - in total 17,000 and 12 months at sea. Watch this video all about the Expedition or learn more at www.phoenicia.org.uk. Video produced by Independent Image.
I have nothing but respect for these early explorers, with the exception of a few who committed genocide on the natives. Half of the crew would starve to death and you'd be lucky if you made it home with a complete ship. Insane adventures of the past.

It's amazing how far ancient people sailed in their wooden "ships."
The Phoenician sailing ships were 40 or 50 feet long, and even by the time of Columbus and Vitus Bering, these crazy explorers were sailing in 50 and 60 foot long vessels packed with 70 men. Imagine the Bering strait with it's 50 to 75 foot swells in a storm, and you're in this tiny 60 foot long wooden box with a sail. Actually, the St, Peter, the ship Bering crashed, had to be re-built for the return home. Keel length: 40 ft.

@BLACKCARGORECORDS This does not prove that the Lebanese were black. This is a non-sequitur.

@yerk3: "Africa is the cradle of human race. Anthropologists have unearthed the oldest human skeletons in East Africa in places such as Hadar, Olduvai, Laetoli. One of the best preserved human remnants is a female skeleton found at Hadar in Ethiopia." You have no evidence, you are just talking. I can keep doing this all day, where is your "Lebanese" ancient skulls? They don't exist they are African fool!!!!

@yerk3:"The Nok culture appeared in Nigeria around 1000 B.C. and mysteriously vanished around 500 AD in the region of West Africa. This region lies in Central Nigeria. The culture’s social system is thought to have been highly advanced. The Nok culture was considered to be the earliest sub-Saharan producer of life-sized Terracotta. It is suggested that the society eventually evolved into the later Yoruba Kingdom of Ife." 1000 b.c...You have no cultures that predate Africa...PERIOD POINT BLANK!!

@yerk3: You are trying to make a point but your knowledge of Africa is lacking because your learning is western. You can tell me all about the Greeks and Romans but if I ask you about the Nok culture of Africa who were doing metallurgy when the western world were near neaderthals...There are so many examples of this and you can't fathom the richness and variation of cultures in all of Africa. You have been brainwashed w images of starving ethiopian kids!

@yerk3: There were no "black semitic speaking cultures." ...HUh? The semitic language is in the AFRO-ASIATIC language family. AFRO as in African, so I think you need to go back and like I said. You true ignorance and lack of study on Africa is showing now. This is about the time where if we were in a debate I would use this flaw of yours to make you look very foolish and u would loose all credibility..RIGHT ABOUT HERE! If we keep dragging this out, you will loose credibility again.

@BLACKCARGORECORDS The Arabs are named after Arabia, but have settled throughout the lower Mediterranean thousands of years ago. The Arabs are not related to the Ethiopians unless they intermarried. There were no "black semitic speaking cultures." The original Semitic people are depicted in the earliest art as having brown skin, not black.

@yerk3: The Arabs are from Arabia. Arabians are related to Ethiopians like Yemens. They are orig9inal black semitic speaking cultures all of them. "Most of the Middle East is now formed by conventionally called "Arab countries", recently invented by the British and French rulers after having defeated and dismembered the Ottoman Empire." You are confused, everything in that region started BLACK AFRICAN PERIOD. THE "PYGMIES" HAVE EVERY RACE KNOWN TO MAN AMONG THEM!

@BLACKCARGORECORDS "Africoid" isn't even a word. The Arabs may have had some distant roots in Africa, but no more than all humans, but this was before migrations which occurred before natural selection led to the modern races. The Arabs in North Africa moved there from the Eastern Mediterranean before the Upper Nile civilizations.
