The evidence is all around us. Just look at the recent bullycides that happened in this country. Going through this experience made me more appreciative of our Filipino roots. I admire that our parents discipline their children. I admire that people have respect, not just for the women and the elderly, but pretty much for everyone around. Having friends is an important buffer in bullying. I find that Filipino friendships are deeper and more genuine.

I have the same experience and reaction. I used to think that there must be something wrong with me to deserve such an unjust, horrible treatment. However, overtime I've come to accept that bullying is a part of this culture. When I say accept, I don't mean to say that it's okay. No, it's far from ok, but in order to move on, I had learn that it isn't me who's done something wrong. It's this bullying environment that seems to be the norm in this country.
